Horse To The Water

Sam Brown　というと男性のような気がしますが、「奥様は魔女」の主人公と同じ名前、Samantha を略した愛称で女性でもSamはあるようです。

「奥様は魔女」って、もう知ってる人が少ないか・・・

Sam Brownは1964年イギリス生まれのシンガーソングライター・・・50歳ということですか・・
両親とも音楽関係の仕事をしていて、若いころから、音楽の世界に生きるようになり、1978年、14歳の時に、Small Facesのアルバムのバックコーラスに参加したのがキャリアのスタートということです。

色々なグループのバックで活躍するようになり、1982年のDeep Purple のオルガ二ストJon Lordのソロアルバムにもなんと同じく歌手のお母さんとともに参加。

其の後、A&Mと契約し、ソロ活動を始め、下の曲”Stop”を含むアルバム「Stop」が世界で250万枚を売り上げるヒットになりました。

冒頭の演奏は、2002年、George Harrisonのトリビュートコンサートの模様ですが、ビデオには入っているのですが、CDにはSam Brownの歌は含まれなかったという記述がWikipediaの説明にありました。

“Stop”でのちょっと暗い歌い方とは別に、陽気なおばちゃん丸出しで、ついでに胸を大きく開けて、オッパイをプルンプルンさせて歌うSamはまるで別人みたいな感じです。

まあ、”Stop”は商業的な演技でトリビュートコンサートのおばちゃんの方が彼女の地なのでしょう。

御本家George Harrisonの”Horse To The Water”を載せておきます。

ここで気が付いたのですが、今まで自分は記事を書いた曲のうち、George Harrison　の曲が下記の2曲あり、今回の”Horse To The Water”が3曲目となります。

“While My Guitar Gentle Weeps”
“Tired Of Midnight Blue”
ぶっちゃけた話、Georgeが好きなのですな。

この曲がどのアルバムに入っているんだろうと確認したところ、Wikipediaに下記の記述がありました。

作詞作曲はGeorge Harrison　と息子のDanhiなのですがPerformanceはJools Holland his Rythm & Blues Orchestraでfeaturing George and his friends とあります。

アルバムタイトルは”Small World, Big band”。

Amazon.comでアルバム「Small World, Big Band」に行くと、同アルバムの全曲のmp3視聴が可能で、上の歌も同アルバムからのものだということがわかります。

Jools Hollandはミュージシャン以外にラジオ、テレビの司会を通じての音楽家達との付き合いが広く、そうそうたるメンバーが彼のレコーディングに毎回、参集しているようです。

Amazonの「Small World, Big Banｄ」のcreditではこの曲の演奏はJools Hollandになっていて、featuring Gerogeとなっていましたが、CDのcreditでは単純にGeorge Harrisonとなっています。

すべての曲が参加アーティストの自演のようで、Sting、Steve WinwoodにEric Claptonはいるはの有名どころがずらりと並び、Jamiroqaiまでいる賑やかさです。

ということで、やはりこれは、紛れもない、Georgeの唄のようです。またまた無知をさらしました。

ちなみに、このアルバムがGeorgeのラストレコーディングらしい・・・
